Student of the Game

Arnetta Burrell lost her son, Sam, to gun violence. Lydia Wood is both a pediatric trauma nurse and a family member of someone who lost their life to a bullet. As a way of working through her own trauma, Lydia sets out to do a series of watercolor portraits depicting members of the community surviving and working to reduce violence. Although Arnetta and Lydia come from different communities, they are united by their common concerns, experiences, and hope.
